The 14-hectare Orang Utan Island, nestled within the lush Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is the world’s first and only 5-acre rehabilitation, conservation and breeding sanctuary where orang utans roam free.  Native to Malaysia and Indonesia, these orang utans are an endangered ape species and will eventually be released into the wild after going through a special rehabilitation program.

Just a 10-minute ferry ride away from the Bukit Merah, the island houses baby orang-utans that can be observed sleeping in cribs, hugging dolls and garbed in diapers and being attended to by a dedicated medical team.

As for adult orang utans who make their home in the forest outside, visitors view them by strolling along a 100-meter steel enclosed walkway.

The park is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily.  The ferry departs every half an hour on weekends and every 45 minutes on weekdays.

Entrance Fees:
Adult – RM20
Child – RM17
Child (below 90cm) - Free
Senior Citizen & Disabled (Malaysian Only) – RM10
