| | | |  | | | | | This district is famous for its treasure trove of pre historic Archeological sites going back before the bronze age, which many areas are, still being discovered by Archeologists today. The oldest human skeleton in Malaysia was found here - at Gua Gunung Runtuh in Lenggong valley. Aptly named "The Perak Man", it was discovered in 1991 and the skeleton has been dated to around 11,000 years old. In 2004, another skeleton was found at Gua Teluk Kelawar in Lenggong, Perak by a team of University Sains Malaysia archaeologists. This time it is a 'Perak woman' of 148cm in height and was believed to aged 40s But the district is not only famous for its skeletons as there are many interesting places await visitors. Most notable would be the Royal Belum Forest Reserve, a nature's haven for Eco tourist, this forest reserve is one of the oldest and largest forest reserve in the world is also the home for the endangered Rhinoceros Hornbill. Other places of attraction include the Baring Peak, Inai Park and Puteri Cave. Eco challenge enthusiasts or those who prefer to go off the beaten track should enjoy the challenging Mount Kenderong, also known as the 'Twin Peaks of Hulu Perak'.
